These “PERSONALITY PORTRAITS” are, in a way, a gift to the families of these photo subjects. Instead of an uncomfortable series of stiff smiles and unfamiliar poses taken in an equally unfamiliar studio, these portraits are captured in someones home, at the local park, or even while relaxing in a coffee shop. A single moment in time can be photographed while children are at play, adults are engaged in comfortable conversation, and pets are in familiar, happy surroundings. They look real simply because they are. I do take “posed” photos. Some photographs embrace the joy of a pose. Many people love to “mug” for the camera. Others are simply happier when allowed to be photographed along with someone they love. I call these photos “buddy shots”. The point is to capture the joy of the moment rather than create an artificial moment.
